Recreation

Chelan County is a place that takes its recreation seriously, all year long. The out-of-doors beckons to hikers, bikers, rock climbers and cross-country skiers, while the waters of the Columbia and 50-mile long Lake Chelan make a playground for kayakers, waterskiers and fishermen.

Looking south from the Confluence Technology Center, you have a direct view 6,770 feet up to the top of Mission Ridge, the area’s own ski resort. If the snow looks good, it’s only an 11-mile drive before you’re sitting on the chairlift.

Golfers can take advantage of 10 18-hole golf courses all inside a one-hour radius of Wenatchee or, if spectator sports are more your style, the region hosts its own semi-pro baseball team each summer, the Wenatchee AppleSox. In the winter, the Riverfront Park Ice Arena fills with the sound of ice skating and the occasional slapshot as hockey season gets underway.
